    Guitar player and composer

    His composition ‘Two Faces’ won the first prize at the national guitar composition contest Open Strings, hosted by the magazine Akustik Gitarre. In 2021 he received a composition scholarship from MUSIKFONDS.

Our album “The passing on of the fire” was just CD of the week at jazz-fun.de – The renowned jazz portal says: “On a work peppered with fresh material, Andreas Brunn makes use of a broad instrumental arsenal. The result is a great album in the border area between jazz and fusion with jazz-rock excursions. I like the guitarist’s nimble solos in combination with the saxophone, which is supported by Alaa Zouiten’s oud. A great album, we are thrilled!”

THE QUARTET

With Manuel Podhostnik (SLO), Roberto Badoglio (I), Vladimir Kaparov (BG) and Andreas Brunn (D), FOR FREE HANDS is perceived as part of the international jazz community living in Berlin. Alaa Zouiten (MAR) is another very interesting instrumentalist who represents the musical traditions of Morocco and modern oud sounds in equal measure.

AWARD WINNING

PRIZE WINNER of the Studio Jazz Prize awarded by the Berlin Senate for Culture. Our new wonderful CD “The passing on of the fire” was released in September 2023 by our record company LAIKA Records. In our current line-up musicians from 5 nations play together – Berlin . Sofia . Rome . Ljubljana . Rabat !
